Technology, K-culture, and accessible world-class education

Language of instruction: Korean or English
Visa: D-2 (student)
Scholarships: Government Scholarship (GKS) and others

Why South Korea

South Korea is one of Asia's leading technology and cultural hubs — home to Samsung, LG and Hyundai — while Korean pop culture and film have made the country one of the most recognizable and appealing destinations for young people worldwide over the last decade.

Its universities consistently appear in global rankings, especially in engineering, IT, design and natural sciences, while tuition and living costs remain noticeably lower than in the US, UK or Australia — making Korea a realistic option for a quality education without an extreme budget.

Language of instruction and requirements

A large share of bachelor's programs are taught in Korean and require a TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) certificate — usually level 3 or above depending on the university and major. Many universities offer a preparatory language year for those starting from zero.

The number of fully English-taught programs is growing quickly, especially at the graduate level and in engineering, business and IT — these typically require an international English certificate (IELTS/TOEFL) rather than Korean, though basic Korean makes everyday life considerably easier.

Visa and cost of study

International students obtain a D-2 student visa (for degree programs) or D-4 (for language and preparatory courses). The process is generally transparent and well-established: a university invitation, proof of financial means, and a standard document package.

The cost of studying and living in Korea is notably lower than in most Western destinations, and the government's Global Korea Scholarship (GKS), along with university scholarships, regularly covers a significant share of costs for motivated applicants — from partial tuition to full coverage plus a monthly stipend.
