IMU University, formerly the International Medical University, is a private English-language health sciences university in Kuala Lumpur. Founded in 1992, it was the first private higher education institution in Malaysia to receive the right to award degrees, and the government granted it full university status in 1999. Malaysia's Ministry of Higher Education gave IMU its top SETARA rating, "6 Star: Outstanding", in 2017 and again in 2020; only three private universities in the country received it.

The university trains doctors and other health professionals and runs MSc and PhD programmes, all taught in English. IMU has cooperation programmes with partner universities abroad, including the University of Edinburgh, Queen Mary University of London, the University of Manchester and the University of New South Wales.

The main campus is in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur. As of November 2022 the university had 3,717 students and 781 staff, a compact institution devoted entirely to health. For an international applicant the main draw is a medical education fully in English. Entry requirements depend on the programme and the intake year, and we check them for each applicant.

Need the language to apply?

Almost everywhere the language is checked before admission, not after. We prepare for the exams admissions offices actually ask for.

Common questions about admission

Why apply through UNIPROFI specifically?

UNIPROFI is about a well-thought-out application and a strong outcome: we build an application path around your profile, goals and the requirements of your selected universities. You work with mentors who are current students or graduates of these schools, so you get real understanding of the system, campuses and opportunities — not theory. We take on complex cases (including minors and admission without an 11th-grade diploma), build an individual strategy for your profile and goals, and support you through every stage, from documents to your visa.

Do you guarantee admission?

We don't offer "guarantees for the sake of a sale," because no one can directly influence a university's decision. What we do is structure everything to minimize the risk of rejection: matching you to the right universities, building a strong application strategy and preparing documents carefully. If you complete the whole process under your plan and are not admitted to any of the universities we applied to, the service agreement lets you choose: a refund minus costs already incurred (university fees, translations, courier) or a free re-application for the next intake.

What are my actual chances of getting in?

We do not state a universal admission probability because the decision belongs to the university. We instead assess your profile, programme requirements and application strategy.

Can I apply on my own — why do I need you?

You can, but most students end up losing time, making mistakes, or settling for weaker universities. We save you months, help you start at a stronger level, and prevent the mistakes that can cost you admission.
