Nanjing University of Science and Technology
Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NJUST) is another university descended from the Harbin Military Engineering Institute: in 1953 its artillery engineering faculty relocated to Nanjing to form the school that would become NJUST, taking its current name in 1993.
Chinese universities tighten portfolio and motivation-letter requirements every year — we track this university by university, so every application matches what the admissions committee actually expects right now.
NJUST is part of Project 211 and has held the #1 spot nationally in Ordnance Science and Technology — part of the Double First-Class initiative — for decades, making it one of China's strongest centers for weapons and munitions engineering. Today it has grown into a broad-based technical university with strong programs in mechanical engineering, materials science, optical engineering and computer science.
Its location in Nanjing, a major scientific and educational hub in eastern China, gives students access to a strong job market in machinery, electronics and IT. The university admits international students to language programs, bachelor's and master's degrees, and offers grants.

Many students get in through our preparatory Language Year — an intensive year of Chinese at a partner university, followed by a move onto the main program.
