The Pontifical University of John Paul II in Kraków (Uniwersytet Papieski Jana Pawła II w Krakowie) grew out of the Faculty of Theology of Jagiellonian University, founded under a bull signed by Pope Boniface IX in 1397. The communist government removed the faculty from the university in 1954, but it carried on under the supervision of the Vatican. John Paul II made it the Pontifical Academy of Theology in 1981, and it became the Pontifical University in 2009.
It teaches theology, philosophy, church history, canon law and the social sciences across five faculties, with a section of the Faculty of Theology in Tarnów. It also runs institutes of bioethics and of ecumenism and dialogue, a language school and postgraduate studies in journalism. The university has a particular interest in bridging the natural sciences and the humanities: Michał Heller, winner of the 2008 Templeton Prize, still teaches here.
The university awards master's, licentiate, doctoral and habilitation degrees. It suits students who want to study theology, philosophy or cultural history seriously at a school that carries on the theological tradition of Jagiellonian University. Its faculties work with universities in Poland and abroad and host international symposia and seminars.

Common questions about admission
Why apply through UNIPROFI specifically?
UNIPROFI is about a well-thought-out application and a strong outcome: we build an application path around your profile, goals and the requirements of your selected universities. You work with mentors who are current students or graduates of these schools, so you get real understanding of the system, campuses and opportunities — not theory. We take on complex cases (including minors and admission without an 11th-grade diploma), build an individual strategy for your profile and goals, and support you through every stage, from documents to your visa.
Do you guarantee admission?
We don't offer "guarantees for the sake of a sale," because no one can directly influence a university's decision. What we do is structure everything to minimize the risk of rejection: matching you to the right universities, building a strong application strategy and preparing documents carefully. If you complete the whole process under your plan and are not admitted to any of the universities we applied to, the service agreement lets you choose: a refund minus costs already incurred (university fees, translations, courier) or a free re-application for the next intake.
What are my actual chances of getting in?
We do not state a universal admission probability because the decision belongs to the university. We instead assess your profile, programme requirements and application strategy.
Can I apply on my own — why do I need you?
You can, but most students end up losing time, making mistakes, or settling for weaker universities. We save you months, help you start at a stronger level, and prevent the mistakes that can cost you admission.
