The University of Milan (Università degli Studi di Milano, abbreviated UniMi and commonly called La Statale) is a public research university in Milan, Italy. As of 2025 it is one of the largest universities in Europe, with 64,878 students and a permanent teaching and research staff of 2,566 (4,653 including all researchers).
The university is organised into ten schools and offers 140 undergraduate programmes. It is a broad-based research university: programmes span many fields, and teaching is closely tied to academic research.
La Statale is a public university that welcomes international students. Study takes place in Milan, one of Italy's main economic and cultural centres, and with nearly 65,000 students you are part of a very large student community. For applicants from Russia, it is one of the largest and most recognisable universities in Italy.
