American University of Sharjah is an independent private institution of higher education founded in 1997 on the American model. Located in Sharjah, AUS ranks among the top three universities in the UAE according to QS rankings and demonstrates consistent global improvement. The university is distinguished by its exceptionally multicultural composition: students and faculty represent over 100 nations worldwide, making the campus one of the most international in the world.
AUS's academic foundation spans four colleges: Architecture, Art and Design; Arts and Sciences; Engineering; and Business Administration. The university offers 28 undergraduate majors, 45 minors, and master's and doctoral programs. In QS, AUS ranks first in the UAE for employer reputation and in the top three for graduate employment outcomes. The faculty comprises specialists from over 50 countries, providing students with access to diverse perspectives and deep expertise in their fields.
For international students from Russia and beyond, AUS offers a welcoming environment: the admissions committee reviews applications competitively based on academic achievement, TOEFL (minimum 80 iBT/550 ITP) or IELTS scores (6.5 minimum), and subject-specific requirements for the chosen major. The university assists with UAE student visa processing. Scholarships are available for high-achieving applicants, including the President's Scholarship for undergraduates covering full tuition, housing, and monthly stipend. Campus facilities include modern academic buildings and residential halls, with student life centred on clubs, sports teams and cultural events.
