Corvinus University of Budapest is a private research university in Budapest, Hungary, best known for economics. Its roots go back to the Faculty of Economics of the Hungarian Royal University — today Eötvös Loránd University — founded in 1920, and it has been an independent university since 1948. The university now has approximately 9,600 students and operates in Budapest and Székesfehérvár.
The university is organised around six faculties and focuses on business administration, economics and social sciences. It offers courses at bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels. Economics is the field for which Corvinus is most widely recognised.
