Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) is Hungary's premier research university and one of Europe's oldest, operating continuously since 1635. With around 35,000 students—over 5,300 of them international students from more than 100 countries—spread across nine faculties and one independent institute. It is the only Hungarian institution representing the country's higher education system in many international strategic alliances and networks.
ELTE's research spans nearly all scientific disciplines: physical and life sciences, informatics, humanities, social sciences, and education. The university leads nationally in physics, mathematics, psychology, and linguistics. The institution houses 17 doctoral schools offering 128 PhD programmes, 14 Momentum research groups, and 5 research groups funded by the European Research Council (ERC). Researchers at ELTE run cutting-edge projects supported by the European Union and Hungarian Academy of Sciences, with strong international collaboration and modern laboratory infrastructure.
ELTE offers over 100 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes fully taught in English, with no Hungarian language requirement. The Department of International Affairs explicitly provides support in Russian, facilitating integration for Russian-speaking students. University dormitories accommodate international students from roughly 80 countries, typically in twin rooms with private bathrooms. New students benefit from an orientation week and a mentorship system. Visa procedures depend on citizenship: EU/EEA citizens receive a registration certificate upon arrival; third-country nationals must obtain a residence permit for study purposes. ELTE provides temporary accommodation confirmation for visa applications even before dormitory placement is finalized.

Common questions about admission
Why apply through UNIPROFI specifically?
UNIPROFI is about a well-thought-out application and a strong outcome: we build an application path around your profile, goals and the requirements of your selected universities. You work with mentors who are current students or graduates of these schools, so you get real understanding of the system, campuses and opportunities — not theory. We take on complex cases (including minors and admission without an 11th-grade diploma), build an individual strategy for your profile and goals, and support you through every stage, from documents to your visa.
Do you guarantee admission?
We don't offer "guarantees for the sake of a sale," because no one can directly influence a university's decision. What we do is structure everything to minimize the risk of rejection: matching you to the right universities, building a strong application strategy and preparing documents carefully. If you complete the whole process under your plan and are not admitted to any of the universities we applied to, the service agreement lets you choose: a refund minus costs already incurred (university fees, translations, courier) or a free re-application for the next intake.
What are my actual chances of getting in?
We do not state a universal admission probability because the decision belongs to the university. We instead assess your profile, programme requirements and application strategy.
Can I apply on my own — why do I need you?
You can, but most students end up losing time, making mistakes, or settling for weaker universities. We save you months, help you start at a stronger level, and prevent the mistakes that can cost you admission.
