IUAV is a university in Venice that teaches the design of everything from cities and buildings to clothes and graphics. It grew out of an architecture school founded in 1926, one of the first in Italy. In 2001 the institute became a university and kept the old abbreviation IUAV as its name.
It works across three fields: architecture, urban and regional planning, and arts and design, with newer courses in fashion, visual arts, theatre and multimedia. Italy's first course in urban planning started here in 1970. Carlo Scarpa, Aldo Rossi and Alejandro Aravena studied or taught at IUAV, and Le Corbusier, Louis Kahn and Frank Lloyd Wright came as visiting professors.
The headquarters, Tolentini, sits near Piazzale Roma in a former convent whose entrance was redesigned by Carlo Scarpa. Studying architecture in Venice itself is a rare chance: the city is the main teaching material. Before applying, check the teaching language and portfolio requirements of your programme. We can help you prepare your documents.

Common questions about admission
Why apply through UNIPROFI specifically?
UNIPROFI is about a well-thought-out application and a strong outcome: we build an application path around your profile, goals and the requirements of your selected universities. You work with mentors who are current students or graduates of these schools, so you get real understanding of the system, campuses and opportunities — not theory. We take on complex cases (including minors and admission without an 11th-grade diploma), build an individual strategy for your profile and goals, and support you through every stage, from documents to your visa.
Do you guarantee admission?
We don't offer "guarantees for the sake of a sale," because no one can directly influence a university's decision. What we do is structure everything to minimize the risk of rejection: matching you to the right universities, building a strong application strategy and preparing documents carefully. If you complete the whole process under your plan and are not admitted to any of the universities we applied to, the service agreement lets you choose: a refund minus costs already incurred (university fees, translations, courier) or a free re-application for the next intake.
What are my actual chances of getting in?
We do not state a universal admission probability because the decision belongs to the university. We instead assess your profile, programme requirements and application strategy.
Can I apply on my own — why do I need you?
You can, but most students end up losing time, making mistakes, or settling for weaker universities. We save you months, help you start at a stronger level, and prevent the mistakes that can cost you admission.
