Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich is one of Europe's most prestigious universities, founded in 1472. LMU is a member of U15, an association of 15 leading German research-intensive universities with deep scholarly traditions. According to the QS World University Rankings 2026, the university ranks 2nd in Germany and 58th globally. In March 2026, LMU confirmed its status as a University of Excellence under Germany's Excellence Strategy and will continue receiving funding for the next seven-year period beginning in 2027. The campus hosts students from more than 130 countries worldwide.
LMU's research is organized around six priority areas: Digits and Data, Earth and Environment, Languages and Cultures, Life and Health, Physics, and Systems and Communities. The university hosts seven Clusters of Excellence, including new clusters in nucleic acid sciences, biosystems design, and cross-cultural philology. The humanities occupy particularly strong positions in international rankings and represent LMU's highest-ranked subject group. LMU attracts approximately 330 million euros annually in sponsored research funding, including Excellence Strategy support, and maintains active collaborations with leading research institutions worldwide.
International applicants work with LMU's International Office, which manages the admissions process. Application deadlines are 15 January for the summer semester and 15 July for the winter semester. Most bachelor's programs are taught in German and require C1-level German proficiency (DSH-2 or TestDaF Level 4). LMU increasingly offers master's programs in English, including Global Studies, AI and Computational Linguistics, and selected economics and natural sciences tracks. Requirements, teaching language, and deadlines vary by target program and admission year; verify current details with the university's International Office before applying. Incoming students are encouraged to attend orientation weeks (Welcome Week) to support integration and connection with the academic community.

What the work covers for this countryCommon questions about admission
Why apply through UNIPROFI specifically?
UNIPROFI is about a well-thought-out application and a strong outcome: we build an application path around your profile, goals and the requirements of your selected universities. You work with mentors who are current students or graduates of these schools, so you get real understanding of the system, campuses and opportunities β not theory. We take on complex cases (including minors and admission without an 11th-grade diploma), build an individual strategy for your profile and goals, and support you through every stage, from documents to your visa.
Do you guarantee admission?
We don't offer "guarantees for the sake of a sale," because no one can directly influence a university's decision. What we do is structure everything to minimize the risk of rejection β matching you to the right universities, building a strong application strategy, and preparing documents carefully. Any refund or re-application arrangement is governed only by the current service agreement and the circumstances of the case.
What are my actual chances of getting in?
We do not state a universal admission probability because the decision belongs to the university. We instead assess your profile, programme requirements and application strategy.
Can I apply on my own β why do I need you?
You can, but most students end up losing time, making mistakes, or settling for weaker universities. We save you months, help you start at a stronger level, and prevent the mistakes that can cost you admission.
