The University of Chemistry and Technology is a natural hub for high-quality education and research in chemistry, materials science, and food technologies. Founded in 1952, it traces its origins to 1807, when the first chemistry course was taught at Prague Polytechnic. Over nearly two centuries, the institution has remained one of Central Europe's leading chemistry research centres. In 2021, the university ranked among four Czech universities recognised by Times Higher Education as belonging to the top 4% of world universities.
The university's academic standing is built on four faculties: Chemical Technology, Environmental Technology, Food and Biochemical Technology, and Chemical Engineering. It collaborates with more than 100 institutions worldwide. English-language bachelor and master programmes operate across all faculties, complemented by international student exchange through Erasmus+ and joint degree opportunities. The Central Laboratories house modern equipment for nuclear magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry, X-ray diffraction, and other analytical chemistry methods.
International students apply during December 1βJanuary 31 through the online portal. There is one intake per year, with studies beginning in September. Bachelor's programmes require passing entrance exams in mathematics and chemistry, plus an interview in English. Non-EU citizens must obtain a long-term student visa.
