Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) is a private university in Beppu, Ōita, Japan. It was founded in 2000 by three parties from the public and private sectors: Ōita Prefecture, Beppu City, and the Ritsumeikan Trust. The university has a student body of about 5,850, with roughly 2,900 domestic and 2,900 international students.

APU's defining academic feature is this balanced international environment. About half of the students come from outside Japan, so intercultural exchange is part of everyday study rather than an add-on. The university's founding also brought together the public and private sectors — the prefecture, the city, and the Ritsumeikan Trust.

For an international applicant, APU is a place where you are not in a small minority from day one: the number of international students is about the same as the number of domestic students. The university is located in Beppu, Ōita, and was established as a private institution supported by the prefecture, the city, and the Ritsumeikan Trust.

Common questions about admission

Why apply through UNIPROFI specifically?

UNIPROFI is about a well-thought-out application and a strong outcome: we build an application path around your profile, goals and the requirements of your selected universities. You work with mentors who are current students or graduates of these schools, so you get real understanding of the system, campuses and opportunities — not theory. We take on complex cases (including minors and admission without an 11th-grade diploma), build an individual strategy for your profile and goals, and support you through every stage, from documents to your visa.

Do you guarantee admission?

We don't offer "guarantees for the sake of a sale," because no one can directly influence a university's decision. What we do is structure everything to minimize the risk of rejection: matching you to the right universities, building a strong application strategy and preparing documents carefully. If you complete the whole process under your plan and are not admitted to any of the universities we applied to, the service agreement lets you choose: a refund minus costs already incurred (university fees, translations, courier) or a free re-application for the next intake.

What are my actual chances of getting in?

We do not state a universal admission probability because the decision belongs to the university. We instead assess your profile, programme requirements and application strategy.

Can I apply on my own — why do I need you?

You can, but most students end up losing time, making mistakes, or settling for weaker universities. We save you months, help you start at a stronger level, and prevent the mistakes that can cost you admission.
