The National University of Distance Education (UNED) was founded in 1972 to teach students at a distance. Its headquarters are in Madrid, it has campuses in every Spanish autonomous community, and it supports over 150,000 students.

UNED has 11 faculties. Its bachelor's degrees cover law, economics, psychology, physics, mathematics, philology, and computer and industrial engineering. It awards the same qualifications as other Spanish universities and has the same entry requirements. Over the last 30 years it has awarded almost 2,000 PhDs, and it has held the UNESCO chair in distance education since 1997.

You'll study mostly on your own, with official materials sent online or by mail and a schedule you set yourself. Exams are in person and supervised, usually at the end of each semester, at UNED centres in Spain and abroad. Centres outside Spain include London, Paris and Bern, and there are exam points in Berlin, Rome and Warsaw. Check which one is closest to you before you apply. Requirements depend on the programme and the intake year.

Need the language to apply?

Almost everywhere the language is checked before admission, not after. We prepare for the exams admissions offices actually ask for.

Common questions about admission

Why apply through UNIPROFI specifically?

UNIPROFI is about a well-thought-out application and a strong outcome: we build an application path around your profile, goals and the requirements of your selected universities. You work with mentors who are current students or graduates of these schools, so you get real understanding of the system, campuses and opportunities — not theory. We take on complex cases (including minors and admission without an 11th-grade diploma), build an individual strategy for your profile and goals, and support you through every stage, from documents to your visa.

Do you guarantee admission?

We don't offer "guarantees for the sake of a sale," because no one can directly influence a university's decision. What we do is structure everything to minimize the risk of rejection: matching you to the right universities, building a strong application strategy and preparing documents carefully. If you complete the whole process under your plan and are not admitted to any of the universities we applied to, the service agreement lets you choose: a refund minus costs already incurred (university fees, translations, courier) or a free re-application for the next intake.

What are my actual chances of getting in?

We do not state a universal admission probability because the decision belongs to the university. We instead assess your profile, programme requirements and application strategy.

Can I apply on my own — why do I need you?

You can, but most students end up losing time, making mistakes, or settling for weaker universities. We save you months, help you start at a stronger level, and prevent the mistakes that can cost you admission.
