Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) is a public university in Batu Pahat, Johor, and a member of the Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN). It began on 16 September 1993 as a centre that trained academic staff for the polytechnics. It became an institute of technology in 1996, a university college in 2000, and a full university under its present name in 2007.
Those roots in training engineering teachers still shape it: its main fields are civil, electrical and mechanical engineering and information technology, alongside education, management, and the sciences and social sciences. The Tunku Tun Aminah Library is one of the largest academic libraries in Malaysia, with four floors, 16,000 square metres and more than 200,000 books.
The main campus is in Batu Pahat and a branch campus is in Pagoh, in the Muar district. Students live in residential colleges on campus, known as "Kolej Kediaman". For an international applicant UTHM is a route to an engineering degree at a public university in southern Malaysia. Entry requirements depend on the programme and the intake year, and we check them for each applicant.
