The Public University of Navarre (UPNA) was created in 1987 by the Parliament of Navarre, and classes began in 1989. About 10,000 students are enrolled today. The main Arrosadia campus sits on the edge of Pamplona, a second campus is in Tudela in southern Navarre, and the Faculty of Health Sciences stands apart, close to the city's two biggest hospitals.
The university offers 25 undergraduate programmes, 7 double degrees and over 30 postgraduate programmes. Business administration and engineering are the most popular choices. Faculties cover economics and business, law, social sciences and education, and health sciences, alongside technical schools for agricultural engineering and biosciences, and for industrial, informatics and telecommunications engineering. Medicine has been taught since 2019. The university belongs to the G9 alliance of nine Spanish universities and to Campus Iberus, with the universities of Zaragoza, Lleida and La Rioja.
Many foreign students come here on exchange, through Erasmus, International Student Exchange Programs and other schemes. Campus life is well covered: a library, dining rooms and a sports centre with a swimming pool in Pamplona, and the Los Abedules student residence in Tudela. Requirements for full-degree study depend on the programme and the intake year.
