The University of A Coruña (Universidade da Coruña) is a public university in Galicia, in the north-west of Spain. It became independent in 1989. Before that its campuses belonged to the University of Santiago de Compostela, which had been Galicia's only university since 1495. It has two main campuses, in A Coruña and in nearby Ferrol, and the A Coruña campus is spread over three suburbs on the edge of the city: Elviña, Zapateira and Oza.
Engineering is one of its strengths. The School of Naval and Industrial Engineers of Ferrol has awarded degrees since the early 1960s and joined the university in 1990. There are also schools of civil engineering, computer science and architecture. Professor Amparo Alonso Betanzos leads LIDIA, the university's artificial intelligence laboratory, and the sociologist Rosa Cobo Bedía teaches the sociology of gender here.
It suits students who want to study engineering, computing or architecture in a quiet coastal city in northern Spain. Teaching is split between two cities, so check whether your programme is based in A Coruña or in Ferrol before you apply. The university also runs its affairs in the open: students and staff use the open-source platform Consul to propose, debate and decide on matters of administration, teaching and budgeting.

Common questions about admission
Why apply through UNIPROFI specifically?
UNIPROFI is about a well-thought-out application and a strong outcome: we build an application path around your profile, goals and the requirements of your selected universities. You work with mentors who are current students or graduates of these schools, so you get real understanding of the system, campuses and opportunities — not theory. We take on complex cases (including minors and admission without an 11th-grade diploma), build an individual strategy for your profile and goals, and support you through every stage, from documents to your visa.
Do you guarantee admission?
We don't offer "guarantees for the sake of a sale," because no one can directly influence a university's decision. What we do is structure everything to minimize the risk of rejection: matching you to the right universities, building a strong application strategy and preparing documents carefully. If you complete the whole process under your plan and are not admitted to any of the universities we applied to, the service agreement lets you choose: a refund minus costs already incurred (university fees, translations, courier) or a free re-application for the next intake.
What are my actual chances of getting in?
We do not state a universal admission probability because the decision belongs to the university. We instead assess your profile, programme requirements and application strategy.
Can I apply on my own — why do I need you?
You can, but most students end up losing time, making mistakes, or settling for weaker universities. We save you months, help you start at a stronger level, and prevent the mistakes that can cost you admission.
